Cop injured in clash with rowdies
A cop was injured during a clash with a group of armed men on the wee hours of Saturday. Police were chasing a Tata Indica car in which the suspected assailants who killed notorious rowdy Narasimha Murthy alias Poone were speeding away.
When the police intercepted the car at around 3 am near Dr Rajkumar Park, the assailants attacked the police with swords.
Police fired at the rowdies in the knee. Sub inspector Vijayakumar was injured in the melee. Suspects have been arrested and admitted to Victoria Hospital.
Last night the police had arrested seven people including the prime suspect Ananda alia Kapali suspected of killing Poone. Police believe the reason for the murder of Poone was his disagreement with Kapali over some real estate deal.
